​​Our Small Animal Theriogenology Service at the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital offers a wide variety of canine and feline reproductive offerings, including breeding management, semen collection, pregnancy diagnosis and management, and genetic and health screening and testing. A theriogenology technician will call you back to schedule an appointment that will coincide with your pet's cycle and to collect a reproductive and medical history.

  • Endocrinology testing (ovarian remnant syndrome, neuter status confirmation)
  • Contraception (male and female), including short and long term needs; medical and surgical options
  • Epididymal sperm harvesting and freezing
  • Exportation and importation of frozen semen nationally and internationally
  • Genetic counseling and breeding program consultation
  • Gestational/fetal aging and assessment
  • Infertility referrals (male and female) for consultation and work up
  • Management of misalliance (mis-mating and termination)
  • Reproductive disease consultation (male and female), including pyometra, cystic endometrial hyperplasia, endometritis, prostatic disease, testicular disease. Monitoring and evaluation of the aging stud dog and brood bitch
