As the tertiary referral center for the Intermountain West, the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital houses 79 veterinarians on clinics, representing 28 boarded specialties. The hospital sees 42,000 cases per year, ranging from vaccinations to heart surgery, and is home to the largest animal cancer center in the world. Services include dentistry, dermatology, avian, exotic and zoological medicine, neurology, nutrition, ophthalmology, and equine and livestock medicine and surgery. Open 24/7, the hospital is staffed by 650 faculty, interns, residents, technicians, staff, students, and volunteers.

  • If your animal is suffering from a medical emergency, emergency care is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, no appointment necessary.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

Our goal is to offer you comprehensive veterinary medical care while providing instruction for our veterinary students, interns, and residents. Although the time you spend with us might be a bit longer than visiting a regular veterinary hospital, your pet will be seen by a veterinary team with a great amount of collective knowledge and expertise.

You should expect that our veterinary students will be an integral part of the care of your pet, but a veterinarian will always be the one to treat your animal or perform surgery.
