Graduation Instructions for Graduates in Biomedical Sciences, Environmental Health, and Microbiology:
The Dean, Faculty and Staff of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences rejoice with you on the forthcoming occasion of your graduation. Please read these guidance instructions carefully and advise your family and guests of those points that will allow them to celebrate this wonderful occasion with you.
Please note that graduate students (all MS and PhD students) from the College have their degrees awarded at the Graduate School Commencement Ceremony.

Lineup: 6:00 p.m., Student Recreation Center (Studio 1)
We will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. at the Student Recreation center. Therefore you must be in the lineup area far enough in advance to don regalia, check your name card, and receive instructions from the college marshals regarding the conduct of the ceremony.
You will receive your name card (containing the information from the questionnaire you completed with your home department through the graduation web site; see your department graduation coordinator named at the bottom of this web page if you have questions) a program, and lineup instructions from the College Marshals. During the ceremony, your name and the biographical comments on your card will be read as you cross the dais to be congratulated by your department head and the dean. Please arrive on time and interact with fellow graduates while we prepare to recognize you.
If you have not completed the online RamCT surveys, you must arrive by 5:45 p.m. (ramct.colostate.edu, Graduating Seniors).
Immediately following ceremony, all graduates, family members, guests, and faculty/staff are welcomed to a reception. Details will be posted in mid-October.
Professional photos will be taken as (1) you are congratulated and (2) with your diploma cover. You will be contacted after the ceremony by the photographer (GradImages) with specific instructions on how to access and view photos should you wish to order prints. You should receive a free passport-sized digital proof on an order card within 5-7 days following the ceremony. After the ceremony you may order online or call 800-261-2576. Personal photos before, during and after the ceremony are encouraged. This is a time to remember! Please be considerate of other guests and graduates for photos taken during the actual ceremony but feel free to encourage family members to record the event of this joyous occasion.
Regalia (Caps and Gowns)
Cap and Gown Distribution: Moby Racket Ball Courts 141 and 142, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on December 18 and 19, 2013. One hour prior to the ceremony, regalia issues can be addressed in Moby Racket Ball Courts 141 and 142, on December 21, 2013.
Regalia Rental: No advance reservations need to be made for the rental of student cap and gowns. Undergraduate robes are black. Cum Laude graduates wear gold and University Honors Scholars wear green robes and a bachelor stole. All Cum Laude students MUST bring your letter from the Registrar's Office to claim appropriate regalia. Suppliers will accept cash only for regalia. Students will be notified via e-mail in the event of a price change from those below.
Bachelor of Science Degree (full regalia): $21
Additional souvenir tassels (green/gold OR gold) $8
Return regalia after the ceremony or following the reception to Moby Racket Ball Courts 141 and 142.
Tassels: The Biomedical Sciences tassel is golden yellow. Tassels are always worn on the left and not switched during the ceremony.
Graduation Announcement Orders
Customized announcement orders (with student's name imprinted): Orders can be made directly to the supplier's website. Web and customized orders are typically returned within 7-10 days of being ordered. Orders can be placed at www.cbgrad.com or by calling 800-433-0296.
Generic/Colorado State announcement orders: Non-personalized announcements can be purchased at the Lory Student Center bookstore anytime.
Tickets are not required for admission. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Areas will be set up to accommodate anyone with a special need - please call 491-3818 (Joanne Greer) so that we may make advance arrangements for your comfort.
Parking can be found west of Moby Gymnasium, north of the Lory Student Center, west of Aylesworth Hall, or west of the library. On the day of the ceremony, Meridian Avenue will be open from Plum Street to the south to facilitate DROP OFF and PICK UP in front of the Recreation Center plus access to parking areas – no street parking will be allowed on Meridian. We suggest that folks who are challenged by walking use this option. Metered parking is in effect on week days only until 4:00 p.m. Parking is free in metered slots after 4 p.m. and on the weekends. During the time of graduation ceremonies (Friday and Saturday, December 20 and 21) most university parking restrictions (with the exception of handicap spaces, loading zones or other specially designated slots) are relaxed for the benefit of our guests.
In the event of inclement weather, please call (970) 491-SNOW or check safety.colostate.edu for updates on the university's operating status and news of any closures or cancellations.
Please remember that this ceremony is a public event, reflecting upon you as an individual and the College and University as a whole. For this reason, we request that you maintain the appropriate dignity in dress and conduct.
Guest conduct restrictions
Prohibited items not allowed in Commencement and Commissioning venues include the following:
Alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs carried in by patrons.
Glass bottles or metal cans.
Ice chests or large coolers.
Bota bags or wine skins.
Sticks, bats or clubs, including any attachments.
Fireworks, firearms or other weapons, or simulated weapons.
Bullhorns or other artificial noisemakers.
Animals other than certified guide dogs for the disabled.
Alcoholic beverages are not allowed. Alcoholic beverages or inappropriate substances or objects are not in keeping with the desired nature of the commencement ceremony. This ceremony is the capstone of the academic experience for you, your colleagues, your family and friends. Help us to keep it both dignified and enjoyable.

Detailed information will be available as the time of commencement draws near. The ceremony is streamed by computer for distant persons with whom you wish to share. Can't Attend? If you are unable to attend your ceremony, diploma covers are available at no charge in the Registrar’s Office of Centennial Hall. Diploma covers can be mailed to you by calling (970) 491-7159 or for graduate students, 491-6817. The cost is $5.00 postage for U.S. mailing. The actual diploma will be mailed to you approximately 6 weeks after commencement. Please alert your home department through the RamCT Commencement questionnaire (ramct.colostate.edu; Graduating Seniors) if you are NOT attending so their preparations reflect your wishes.
