You can be part of our research breakthroughs. Give to support Animal Health Innovation research today.

"With AHIF funds my research team discovered that a bean-based diet could improve metabolism to help fight obesity and prevent disease in dogs."

Elizabeth Ryan, PhD.

Catalyzing clinical research to ensure longer, better lives for our animals.

Formerly the Miki Society for Companion Animal Research, the Animal Health Innovation Fund (AHIF) has catalyzed clinical research in order to ensure animals live longer, better lives. Hundreds of clinics, veterinarians, alumni, and supporters contribute to the fund each year.

AHIF donors have been supporting this fund for nearly three decades because it is critical to combatting diseases and other health issues that are common in companion animals and livestock. Private gifts support a range of studies from developing new drug therapies for common cancers in dogs to better treatments for feline liver failure. These studies are typically published in major scientific journals, presented at conferences and applied as new treatments, technology and products within the college and industry.

Currently we fund approximately 20 percent of the proposals requesting funding, which is close to three studies annually, costing $10,000-25,000 per proposal. The college aims to increase the number of studies and amount awarded to a minimum of four $25,000 projects per year. This will address the increasing demand for relevant research, while leveraging our faculty expertise to make the greatest strides in improving animal health.
