It's tough waiting around for responses to your application to the DVM Program. Use the guidelines below to determine when and how you will hear from the admissions committee.

DVM Program Communication Process

 Necessary Applications

1. Getting Started

Once the application is open, you will be able to create an account using the link to the Colorado Supplemental Application (CSA). Please create only one account. Once your account is created, you can then start an application.

2. All Updates and Notifications

Once you have submitted your CSA, all updates regarding your admissions status and application materials received will occur via your Application Status webpage.

3. Phased Admissions Process

The Office of DVM Admissions has a Phased Admissions evaluation and notification process which has been divided into four phases. The information below will provide applicants with an estimate of when they might expect to be notified about their admission status. The phases are as follows:

  • Phase One: late September -  Incomplete/Complete Application Materials Check - Notification and denial of applicants who have an incomplete application due to missing application materials. These are applicants who did not submit one or more of the following by the deadline:  the VMCAS Application; Colorado Supplemental Application; associated application fees; VMCAS LORs.

  • Phase Two: late December - Application Reviews - Applicants will be notified of either a deny status or are selected for an interview.

    • Early Academic Review, is a review of applications with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or less, some applicants will be denied and some will move forward to the DVM Review.
    • Combined Program Review (includes UAF/CSU), is a review of applicants for the MBA/DVM, MPH/DVM, MSA/DVM, MST/DVM, PhD/DVM, or the UAF/CSU program(s). Some will be selected for an interview, some will be a combined program deny. All combined program applicants will additionally be reviewed in the DVM Review.
    • DVM Review, is a review of applicants in either the Colorado (includes FAVCIP), Nonsponsored, or WICHE pool.
  • Phase Three: mid-January - Interviews are held - Candidates selected dor an interview will be invited to participate in the interview process (MMI format). Interviews will be held on January 18-19, 2020 (Sat-Sun).  Completing the interview is required to be considered for a position in the DVM program. Admissions decisions will be based on a combined rank of the application rank and the interview rank.
  • Phase Four:  mid-February - Decisions are released - Applicants who complete the interview process will be notified of a deny status, selected as an alternate, or selected to receive an offer for a position in either the DVM Program or one of the combined programs.
