It's tough waiting around for responses to your application to the DVM Program. Use the guidelines below to determine when and how you will hear from the admissions committee.

DVM Program Communication Process

 Necessary Applications

1. Getting Started

Once the application is open, you will be able to create an account using the link to the Colorado Supplemental Application (CSA). Please create only one account. Once your account is created, you can then start an application.

2. All Updates and Notifications

Once you have submitted your CSA, updates will occur via your Application Status portal page.

3. Phased Admissions Process

The Office of Veterinary Admissions has a Phased Admissions evaluation and notification process which has been divided into four phases. This will provide applicants with an estimate of when they might expect to be notified about their admission status. The phases are as follows:

  • Phase One: late September - Notification and denial of applicants who have an incomplete application. These are applicants who did not submit the VMCAS Application; Colorado Supplemental Application; associated application fees; VMCAS LORs by the deadline.

  • Phase Two: late December - Applications are reviewed. Applicants will be notified of either a deny status or are selected to interview in late December.

  • the Early Academic Review, is a review of applications with a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or less, some applicants will be denied and some will move forward to the DVM Review.

  • the Combined Program Review (includes UAF/CSU), is a review of applicants for the MBA/DVM, MPH/DVM, MSA/DVM, MST/DVM, PhD/DVM, or the UAF/CSU program(s). Some will be selected for an interview, some will be a combined program deny. All combined program applicants will additionally be reviewed in the DVM Review.

  • the DVM Review, is a review of applicants in either the Colorado (includes FAVCIP), Nonsponsored, or WICHE pool.

  • Phase Three: mid-January - Interviews. Candidates selected to interview will be invited to participate in the interview process (MMI format). Interviews will be held on January 13-14, 2018 (Sat-Sun).  All invited applicants will be required to complete the interview process  to be considered for a position in the DVM Program.  Admissions decisions will be based on a combined rank of the application rank (50%) and the interview rank (50%).

  • Phase Four: mid-February - Decisions are released. Applicants who complete the interview process will be notified they have been denied, selected as an alternate or selected to receive an offer for a position in either the the DVM Program or one of the combined programs.
