Program Initiative Funds Requests
The MIP leadership recognizes that from time-to-time any program may experience the need for an initiative (e.g. equipment purchase or upgrade, repair of crucial equipment, service contracts, limited space renovation, etc.) that will either significantly strengthen the existing program or enable its redirection to take advantage of collaborative or funding opportunities. In order to facilitate the most fair, transparent and efficient utilization of limited program initiative funds, the following criteria have been established.
Each fiscal year the department will allocate a fixed dollar amount for program initiatives
Priority will be given to shared initiatives for which the applicant(s) have identified matching funds and which provide maximum benefit to MIP’s research, service and teaching missions
Equipment purchases or upgrades must document significant advantages over existing equipment or access to alternatives
Applicants must satisfactorily address all points listed on the Program Initiatives Request Form
The Program Initiative Funds Policy Statement is subject to periodic review and change
Applications will be reviewed and a recommendation made by the Departmental Advisory Committee, which meets on the third Wednesday of each month
To promote career development of faculty, staff and students through the presentation of a scientific abstract or through participation in a relevant symposium/workshop. Funding will be provided by the department to offset associated costs.
