The Orthopaedic Research Center at Colorado State University was founded by renowned equine arthroscopic surgeon Dr. C. Wayne McIlwraith and is known worldwide for joint problem prevention and healing research in the horse with some recently expanded work in human athletes. A dedicated group of senior scientists, graduate and post-doctoral students continue to answer critical questions about orthopaedic health in horses and humans.

    The Malones have donated $42.5 million to the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences – the largest cash gift in the history of Colorado State University – for research that benefits human and animal health! The gift will launch an institute that develops stem-cell therapies and other regenerative treatments for animals, with discoveries that may be applied to new treatments for people. Equine sports medicine researchers with horse

​ORC faculty in collaboration with the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital have developed an ambulatory Equine Sports Medicine service, targeting equine athletes throughout Colorado, and beyond.
