Orthopaedic Research Center

The Orthopaedic Research Center at Colorado State University was founded by renowned equine arthroscopic surgeon Dr. C. Wayne McIlwraith and is known worldwide for joint problem prevention and healing research in the horse with some recently expanded work in human athletes. A dedicated group of senior scientists, graduate and post-doctoral students continue to answer critical questions about orthopaedic health in horses and humans.

  • 16th Annual Annual CSU Stallion Auction
    ​The Annual Stallion Auction to benefit equine research at CSU will be held Jan. 7-10, 2015.​ When you purchase a breeding, you are helping to improve horse health and benefit the outstanding equine research programs at CSU’s Orthopaedic Research Center and the Equine Reproduction Laboratory.

    ​CSU's Orthopaedic Bioengineering Research Laboratory, NASA, and a herd of sheep have teamed up to make human space travel safer with the help of a $1.5 million grant. NASA plans to send astronauts to Mars by 2030.​

Equine sports medicine researchers with horse

​ORC faculty in collaboration with the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital have developed an ambulatory Equine Sports Medicine service, targeting equine athletes throughout Colorado, and beyond.
