​The Department of Biomedical Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences is a major locus for biomedical education from undergraduate through postdoctorate and for translational biomedical research for Colorado State University. BMS houses more than 30 specialty laboratories. Faculty members' interests run the gamut from reproductive biology and endocrinology to neurotransmitters and molecular signal transduction.

    ​Think about it: The human brain is the largest among all vertebrates compared to body size, enabling an untold number of complex functions. Northern Colorado high-schoolers will get a dose of brain power during the college’s annual outreach effort as part of Brain Awareness Week.
  • reproduction, bison
    American bison – genetically pure and disease-free – are returning to northern Colorado with help from our advanced reproductive technologies. It’s an exciting conservation and restoration project, with bison reintroduction set this fall.

    Pregnancy researcher Russ Anthony and others on the college’s Healthy Baby, Healthy Mother research team hope their investigations into pregnancy development and placental function will lead to reduction in the incidence of babies with intrauterine growth restriction.
