The James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Colorado State University will host its annual Open House on Friday and Saturday, April 5 and 6. Special open house workshops will take place Friday evening.
The Open House is a yearly event and includes lectures, demonstrations, tours through the hospital, and more than 15 display booths filled with animal information. The event is coordinated and run by students in the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences’ Professional Veterinary Medical Program. Hospital tours begin every 15 minutes, run throughout the day on Saturday, and are usually 30-45 minutes long. The last tour begins at 3 p.m.
On Friday, April 5, 6-8:30 p.m., there will be two evening presentations. Dr. Kristy Pabilonia will speak on, "The Basics of Raising Backyard Chickens," (with live chicken demo starting at 7:15 p.m.) and Dr. Melissa King will speak on, "What is Equine Sports Medicine and What Role Does in Play in the Life of the Equine Athlete?" Refreshments will be provided.
Large groups are encouraged to make tour reservations by calling (970) 297-1269. The Veterinary Teaching Hospital is located at 300 W. Drake Road in Fort Collins. All Open House events are free and open to the public.

10:30 a.m. – Equine First Aid Lecture and Workshop with Dr. Dean Hendrickson
12:30 – What CSU does for the Community with Dr. Rebecca Ruch-Gallie
12:30 – Fort Collins Police Canine Unit Training Demonstration
1:30 p.m. – So You Want to be a Veterinarian? with Dr. Sherry Stewart
2:30 p.m. – Understanding Your Cat’s Appetite: Nutrition in Cats and Tips and Tricks for Feeding the Finicky Feline with Dr. Jessica Quimby.
Please do not bring your animal to this event. You will not be permitted to tour the hospital. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping every person and animal safe and healthy!
