The Fast and the Furriest 5K Run/Walk attracted a litter of participants for its 10th annual event held on Saturday, April 27.
The event raised an estimated $10,000 benefitting the Companion Care Fund (70 percent of proceeds) and the Class of 2015 Professional Veterinary Medicine scholarship fund (30 percent of proceeds). The 5K race drew in a crowd of 426 runners/walkers and their furry friends. After the race, participants listened to music by “Tit for Tat” while visiting different booths at the doggy/runner exposition.
“Everything went better than we could have ever expected,” said Becky Brandenburg, a student in the Professional Veterinary Medical Program, Class of 2015. “I want to thank everyone who helped make the event possible and the students and community members who came out and supported the cause.”
The race’s top five finishers received awards for both the runners and their pets.
