Scholarship Impact Award
Dr. John Belisle
Professor, Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology
Director, NIH Rocky Mountain Regional Center of Excellence
The Scholarship Impact Award, bestowed by the Office of the Vice President for Research, recognizes an outstanding faculty member whose scholarship has had a major impact nationally and/or internationally. It is the University’s highest award for accomplishment in research. Dr. Belisle was recognized for his work in infectious disease.
Dr. Belisle focuses on the physiology of the bacterium that causes tuberculosis and immune system response, and then uses that information to find new ways to treat, diagnose and prevent the disease. He also directs the National Institutes of Health’s Rocky Mountain Regional Center of Excellence for Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Diseases Research, where experts collaborate on infectious disease research.

Thom, Amanda, Paula and Lydia Hadley
Presented to administrative professional staff for continuing meritorious and outstanding achievement in the areas of outreach, teaching, administration, and/or research; this award is presented by the Administrative Professional Council. Hadley, as Executive Director of Operations in the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, oversees a dedicated staff that is involved of every aspect of success within the College’s research, teaching and outreach missions.
During his tenure, Hadley has played a critical role in the development and deployment of two data management systems, Cold Fusion and eThority, streamlined and improved operations within the College, and helped establish international partnerships that support the College’s missions. Hadley’s colleagues appreciate his “visionary leadership” and adept problem-solving skills that keep the College on a steady course.
Each year, the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences recognizes outstanding faculty and staff members for service, advising, and instructional methodology. Outstanding Employee Service Award recipients are nominated by CVMBS faculty and staff. Student Choice Awards are nominated and selected by CVMBS students. This year, the awards were presented during the 2013 Spring Forum on April 23. In addition, in May, the College announced the recipient of the Pfizer Distinguished Veterinary Teacher Award.
Pfizer Distinguished Veterinary Teacher Award
Dr. Craig Webb
Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences
Dr. Craig Webb recently was awarded the 2013 Pfizer Distinguished Veterinary Teaching Award sponsored by Pfizer Animal Health (now Zoetis Animal Health). Dr. Webb is a specialist in gastroenterology, and is highly valued by his students as both a teacher and mentor.
The purpose of the Pfizer Distinguished Veterinary Teacher Award is to improve veterinary medicine education by recognizing outstanding instructors who, through their ability, dedication, character and leadership contribute significantly to the advancement of the profession. Nominees must be full-time members of the medical faculty of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and have demonstrated a sustained record of excellence in teaching.
