CVMBS Student Choice 2013 Award Winners
Each year, CVMBS undergraduates, graduate students and veterinary students are asked to put forward names of individuals who excel in their work – educating the next generation of scientists and veterinarians. Award categories include:
Promoting/demonstrating practice management concepts in the Professional Veterinary Medical Curriculum
Outstanding commitment to academic advising in the undergraduate, graduate, and PVM Programs (three separate awards)
Development and implementation of effective or innovative instructional methodology (three separate awards)

Graduate advising – William J. Brazile (Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences)
PVM advising – Debra Liptak (James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital)
Undergraduate instruction – David Gilkey (ERHS)
Graduate instruction – Marie Legare (ERHS)
PVM instruction – Anna Fails (BMS)
PVM practice management – Felix Duerr (Department of Clinical Sciences)

DVM Class of 1971 Mourns Loss of Dr. Robert Mark Ragsdale
Dr. Robert Mark Ragsdale, age 68, passed away on December 17, 2012, at his home in Newhall, Calif., after a long illness. Dr. Ragsdale received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 1971, and practiced for more than 40 years as a veterinarian in Santa Clarita, Calif.
Dr. Ragsdale is survived by his wife, Renel Ragsdale, daughters Laura and Tara, and son, Michael. Donations may be made in Dr. Ragsdale's honor to the Sierra Club Foundation.
